So been a while but the travelling is back on for me :). Dublin and county Wicklow this time for 6 days can’t wait. Fly out tomorrow for 6 days of Eire fun.
Pics and stories will follow :)
Ok so lots has happened in the last 3 weeks. Well my gone green program ran ok, but being I’ll I got worse and actually ended up at hospital and got morphine, the America hospital was so quick and efficient which I loved ( the insurance lady walking round not so much) .I got wicked bad acid reflux and am now lactose intolerant. It’s had but hopefully I won’t have it when I go home. Week 3 was interesting to say the least. I ran the junior chef program and cooking with 20 kids is an interesting experience , but it was good. I got my half week off and went to waldorf a few times. Went clothes shopping and loving the exchange rate. Got a super short hair cut. No more fringe.woooo. Was just to much to deal with no time and the humidity. Session 4 was for girls only . When the kids came to camp with there female relatives and did a condensed program , they were amazing and made the week really special for all of us. We did swaps which was fun. I got an extended contract to an extra week at the end of summer. So either have 4 or 5 weeks left of camp then travel time. No internet at camp at the moment . which isn’t great but gotta deal with it.
Ok so ive been at Camp winona for 3 weeks now, 2 for training and one with kids here. been great so far, training went really well and not too borning (as training can be) then i got promoted to unit leader. which changed things up a lot but didnt mind too much as i still get to do loads with the kids, just a lot more paperwork. So we’ve just finshed session 1. i ran the It’s a Mystery program and Watered down program. which was crazy to start with, but fun. nearly all of the kids we great, just a few who asked a few too many questions repetativily (but thats kids for you!) I really hadf to step up, after getting used to working with 3-5 year olds at the nusery and then keeping 22, 8-11 year olds entertained for a week, is not for all but i really enjoyed the challenge and they made me laugh so much. next week, im running the Gone Green session (not really sure what im doing for this but ill figure it out pretty quickly )
The food and heat aint really agreeing with me, but im getting there and should be ok, if i just keep drinking lots of water
have a funky tan line that needs sorting out and my hair has been a mess since day 1 here (humidty and my hair =bad combo), but i dont care, most of the staff are amazing, really getting along with a few of them, and just dont know the others that well yet
so day of, time to chill and relax and it all start over again tomorrow!
Ok so ive been at camp for just under two weeks, now going through lots of training and getting to know all the staff. done loads of great things already, learnt to make friendship bracelets, know most of the camp songs( i think) loads of games to teach the kids. Been hiking on the trails of the camp. Went bowling with my sisterhood and lernt im not very good at it (did get 2 strikes in a row at one point tho)and getting lost in walmart is very easy very quickly
So the kids arrive tomorrrow and really looking forward to it . Im now a Unit Leader as i was promoted the other day :D so ill be overseeing two programmes for the next week, cant wiat to begin
